Full telescope rigid boxes are the primary type of boxes and are widely recognized as rigid gift boxes. Telescope in their name refers to how they assembled—one lid of such box “telescopes” over the base of the box.
Full telescope rigid box means that the lid fully telescopes the base. A thumb notch is often added to the lid to make opening easier. When opened, the upper lid detaches from the base of the boxes and leaves you with two components. It is why they fall under the category of what is known as a 2-piece rigid box.

Partial Telescope Rigid Box
Partial telescope rigid boxes are very much like the full telescope rigid boxes. The only difference is that the lid for the partial telescope rigid boxes only “telescopes” over half of the base of the box.
